World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria was well-received, earning accolades as WoW's best expansion to date.

Alongside Director Marc Messenger and Art Director Chris Thunig, I developed the look and lighting aesthetic of characters and environments. The cinematic presented two distinct challenges: dynamic lighting that progressed from shot to shot and a furry main character. Nailing the right look for the extreme blacks and whites of Chen Stormstout's fur was a daunting task.

In my lead role, I was involved in the visual development for all show assets, including environments and characters. Given the narrative importance of the dynamic, progressive lighting, considerable time was spent on HDRI capture and environment lighting ideation. To create the highly-refined look of Chen, I worked with the character and animation teams in an agile, responsive strike team.
